Sustainable management of micro-watersheds in northern Laos - SWAN

The aim of the SWAN project is to engage local communities in the sustainable and participatory management of watersheds in Laos, helping them to prepare for and be less vulnerable to climate-related risks.

Issues

The goal is for the targeted communities to prepare for and be less vulnerable to climate-related risks. Natural resources will also be better protected and shared more fairly through improved understanding and stronger engagement of local populations.

Expected results

  • Production of “Watershed and land profiles”;
  • Contribution to the design of a set of indicators for a local monitoring and evaluation system that can be used and applied by local stakeholders;
  • Training of trainers for implementing partners and provincial-level extension services in the field of agroecology;
  • Design of participatory evaluations of agroecology-based innovations;
  • Capitalisation of impacts and lessons learned.
